Solberg Airport Eminent Domain Battle Gets National Press

Thanks to Mark Hyman of Behind the Headlines, this story ran on 70+ television stations around the country.

Solberg Rescinds Ordinance to Take Solberg Airport

On November 13, 2013, the Readington Township Committee rescinded the ordinance to take ALL of Solberg Airport by eminent domain.  They are still moving forward to take 625 of the 725 acres using eminent domain, so our fight is not over yet!

Updates! Updates! Updates!

A lot has happened since the last post, so here goes:

1.  About 500 people showed up to Readington's Township Meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2013.  People spoke out against the township's proposed eminent domain action for over three hours with no one speaking out in favor of using eminent domain.  In typical Readington fashion, the committee voted to use eminent domain anyway at the end of the meeting.

2.  The court decided to DENY Readington's motion to amend their complain from taking only most of Solberg Airport to taking all of Solberg Airport.  The case will now proceed to trial in March 2014 to determine the legality of their original eminent domain action.

We are so thankful for the outpouring of support from citizens both near and far.  This has been a very difficult fight for us and knowing you are also appalled by the abuse of eminent domain has been awesome.  Keep talking up the story to everyone you know, keep writing to the mayor, governor, state officials, AOPA, NBAA, NJDOT and whoever else you think can help!
